Knicks’ Josh Hart goes out of pocket with reaction to Jalen Brunson mag cover

The New York Knicks are nearly two weeks removed from winning the 2026 NBA championship, the franchise’s first title since the 1973 season. Since then, the Knicks have been on a celebration tour, appearing on talk shows, throwing out first pitches, and attending their parade in New York City.

Recently, Finals MVP and star point guard Jalen Brunson added to the celebration by appearing on the cover of New York Magazine, which had the title “It’s Good To Be King: Jalen Brunson Takes It All In.”

Knicks teammate Josh Hart then made a middle school-esque joke in response to the wording of the title.

“I beg your pardon….HE DOES WHAT??” wrote Hart.

Hart and Brunson have been known to take jabs at each other in the media and on social media, frequently jokingly denying that they are friends and trading insults. However, this year, Hart, Brunson, and the Knicks were all business during their trip to the NBA Finals, going 15-1 in the playoffs after falling behind 2-1 to the Atlanta Hawks in the first round.

Along the way, Brunson silenced any doubt about whether a small guard could lead a team to a championship in today’s NBA landscape, although he got plenty of support from his teammates, including Hart, who provided every bit of the playmaking, rebounding, and hustle that has made him the connective tissue of the Knicks for the past few years.

The Knicks will now look to become the first NBA champion in nearly a decade to repeat the following year, but before that, the front office has some big decisions to make, including how to go about bringing back Mitchell Robinson and Landry Shamet in free agency, among others.

For now, though, the Knicks are still clearly in celebration mode, as they should be.
