AJ Dybantsa reveals truth behind viral Len Bias comparison video

One of the greatest NBA superstars that never was, was the late Len Bias who was selected No. 2 overall by the Boston Celtics in the 1986 NBA Draft. The Maryland star had franchise potential, but he never set foot on an NBA court, passing away before he could make his rookie debut. But for Washington Wizards incoming rookie AJ Dybantsa, he could be the opportunity to see what Len Bias would have looked like in the NBA.

Shortly after being drafted by the Wizards, AJ Dybantsa went viral for proclaiming that his NBA comparison is Len Bias. It was an unusual comparison considering the majority of today’s players compare themselves to more recent eras, especially stars they were able to witness growing up.

But the Wizards’ rookie doubled-down on his comparison to the former lottery pick when asked about it, as per Chase Hughes of Monumental Sports Network.

“He got to his middy and I take huge pride getting to my middy,” Dybantsa said. “I started watching his film probably a couple months ago. I started pulling up his film on TikTok and I didn’t know who he was.”

First off, this is definitely a good sign for the organization and for the fan base in that Dybantsa appears to be a true student of the game. And secondly, it shows his willingness to learn and get better before even setting foot on an NBA court.

Coming into the draft, Dybantsa and Darryn Peterson were always the frontrunners for the No. 1 overall pick, with a general consensus landing on the BYU star in the immediate days leading up to the draft. And now, true NBA history buffs might get their opportunity to envision what Bias might have looked like had he made it.
