Rays’ Craig Kimbrel gets absolutely roasted after blowing no-hitter vs. Royals

The Tampa Bay Rays were a hit away from throwing a no-hitter early on Thursday. A combined no-hitter is not as fun, but it is still an impressive feat that hardly ever happens. After throwing eight no-hit innings thanks to a great opening from Casey Legumina and outing from Ian Seymour, longtime reliever Craig Kimbrel was called upon to finish the game.

He did not have a clean ninth inning, allowing one walk and a home run from Carter Jensen.

At the end of the day, the Rays won 13-2 and will be happy with the result. However, it did not make sense for Seymour to come out of the game at only 90 pitches. He walked only one batter and had seven strikeouts in 6.2 innings.

Kimbrel is getting roasted on social media for allowing the home run; however, it was not a bad pitch at 95 mph, just above the zone. Sometimes, a hitter is going to be all over a fastball.
