Breanna Stewart, Satou Sabally downgraded on Storm game injury report

The New York Liberty are looking in great shape approaching the halfway point of the 2026 WNBA season. The Liberty are 12-6 on the season and will represent the Eastern Conference in the Commissioner’s Cup on June 30th. New York just released their injury report, revealing that two of their biggest stars will not be suiting up against Seattle.

The Liberty will be without both Satou Sabally and Breanna Stewart against the Storm, per The Athletic’s Annie Costabile.

Sabally was downgraded to our on the final injury report. She is now in concussion protocol. Head coach Chris DeMarco clearly stated that Sabally was not in concussion protocol after Tuesday’s win over the Aces. That makes it surprising to see her added to the injury report just a few days later.

This update is concerning because Sabally already has a history of concussions. In fact, she missed Game 4 of the 2025 WNBA Finals with the Mercury due to concussion.

Sabally suffered a blow to the head against Las Vegas during the second quarter. She briefly stayed in the game, but did not come back on the court during the second half.

New York signed Sabally during WNBA free agency earlier this spring. She has already missed five games during her short tenure with the Liberty, which will increase to six on Thursday night. When available, she is averaging 10.4 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game while averaging 16.8 minute per game on the court.

Meanwhile, Stewart was also downgraded to out with a rest designation. It will be Stewy’s first regular-season absence on the season.

Liberty at Storm tips off at 10PM ET from Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle.
