Chicago Sky guard DiJonai Carrington has yet to play this season due to her foot injury, but she has been closely following the league, including issues about opposing teams.
On Wednesday, Indiana Fever coach Stephanie White unloaded on the officiating after their loss to the Phoenix Mercury. White claimed that “cheap shots” on Caitlin Clark are not being called, particularly when Alyssa Thomas put her fist on the star guard’s throat.
“The one thing that we keep asking for is consistency. She is not called the same way everybody else is called,” said White.
Her rant quickly became a hot-button topic, as expected with any Clark-related matter. After reviewing the game between the Fever and the Mercury, the WNBA suspended Thomas for one game.
Carrington appeared to push back on White’s narrative and the WNBA’s decision by reposting a pair of tweets.

The league assessed Thomas a flagrant foul 2 for “recklessly making contact” with Clark.
It has been a familiar narrative about Clark since she entered the WNBA in 2024. Many have complained that she is supposedly being targeted and hurt by defenders.
Clark and Carrington have had heated battles, including in the first round of the playoffs in 2024. In Game 1, Carrington, who was then with the Connecticut Sun, accidentally poked Clark’s eye, but no foul was called. It caused an uproar from fans, but Clark acknowledged that the incident was unintentional.
Meanwhile, there is still no timetable for Carrington’s return to action, although some have claimed that she might be ready in July. She signed with the Sky on a one-year deal in April.
