Bonkers stat shows Tempo’s Marina Mabrey had sweetest revenge game in WNBA history vs. Sparks

Marina Mabrey racked up multiple records with her historic scoring performance in the Toronto Tempo’s blowout win over the Los Angeles Sparks on Thursday night.

Mabrey is going through the eighth season of her WNBA career, her first with the Tempo. She stands out with experience on a franchise going through its inaugural season in the league. It presents the opportunity for her to play a key role in the team’s success this year.

In 32 minutes of action, Mabrey was dominant on the court in Toronto’s clash against Los Angeles. She torched the nets with a stat line of 53 points, six rebounds and two assists. She shot 17-of-28 from the field, including 9-of-18 from beyond the arc, and 10-of-12 from the free-throw line.

Her efforts made league history as one of the biggest scoring nights ever. Not only that, but she got payback against the Sparks, the team who drafted her back in 2019, per ESPN Insights.

Marina Mabrey enjoyed her dominant performance as the Tempo cruised to victory over the Sparks.

Five players scored in double-digits for Toronto in the win, including Mabrey. Julie Allemand produced well with 13 points, 14 assists, six rebounds, three steals, and one block. She shot 4-of-4 overall, including 3-of-3 from downtown. Maria Conde came next with 13 points and seven rebounds, Kia Nurse had 12 points and three rebounds, while Laura Juskaite provided 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Toronto improved to a 9-9 record on the season, holding the fifth spot in the Eastern Conference standings. They are above the Chicago Sky and the Connecticut Sun while trailing the Washington Mystics and the Indiana Fever.

The Tempo will look forward to their next matchup, remaining at home. They host the Phoenix Mercury as tip-off takes place on June 27 at 2 p.m. ET.
