The San Francisco Giants needed a spark Monday night, and Jung Hoo Lee continued to provide one in the series opener vs. the Washington Nationals. The Giants outfielder extended his hitting streak to 16 games with another clean piece of contact at Oracle Park.
Lee bounced a single through the right side, adding a marker to one of baseball’s hottest active stretches. His consistency has become one of the few steady offensive stories for a San Francisco club that entered the night at 27-39 and near the bottom of the NL West.
NBC Sports Bay Area’s Alex Pavlovic posted the update Monday on X, formerly Twitter, explaining the significance of Lee’s latest hit and where it placed him in recent franchise history.
“Jung Hoo Lee bounced a single through the right side, extending his hitting streak to 16 games. It’s the longest by a Giant since Donovan Solano (17) in 2020.”

That context lifted the streak beyond a normal hot stretch. No Giants player had reached that length since Solano’s 17-game run during the shortened 2020 season, leaving Lee one game from matching the club’s most recent benchmark.
The run has also shifted the feel of Lee’s season. He has raised his average from .265 to over .320 in roughly a month, giving San Francisco a reliable table-setter while the lineup searches for broader production.
The Nationals series opener provided another example of how the 27-year-old outfielder has maintained the streak. Lee did not need a loud swing at first, only a well-placed single through the right side. He later scored on Bryce Eldridge’s opposite-field RBI double, giving the Giants a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the eighth currently.
For the Giants, that repeatable approach matters. Their offense has needed stability, and Lee has become the hitter most capable of setting the tone at the top of the order.
As San Francisco tries to find traction, Lee’s streak remains the club’s brightest storyline. His 16-game run now carries franchise weight and league-wide relevance.
