Wild rumors: Insider believes Dylan Larkin will end up in Minnesota amid Red Wings trade request

Earlier this month, Dylan Larkin made a trade request, wishing for the Detroit Red Wings to send him off. He also gave a list of three teams, with the Minnesota Wild among them. Now, the belief is that he will get his wish and end up in Minnesota, according to NHL insider Andy Strickland.

“Gauging opinions, the belief is that Dylan Larkin will end up with Minnesota once everything is settled,” Strickland wrote on X.

Larkin’s list of three teams has the NHL talking. He singled out the Florida Panthers, Vegas Golden Knights, and of course, the Wild. Notably, some believed he would not get what he wanted. The Wild have expressed interest in Larkin and have a dire need for a center. Ultimately, their lack of depth at that position possibly cost them against the Colorado Avalanche in the playoffs.

Larkin has never played in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and that could be a major reason for the trade request. Significantly, all three teams have either won the Stanley Cup recently (Panthers), been to the Stanley Cup (Golden Knights), or consistently made the playoffs (Wild).

Larkin netted a career-high 34 goals and 67 total points over 74 games played in the 2025-26 season. Additionally, he had 14 power-play goals. Larkin’s ability to find the back of the net and thrive in the faceoff circle makes him appealing to a team like the Wild.

With Kirill Kaprizov and Matt Boldy already doing all the scoring on the wing, Larkin could benefit from playing with them or even help them get even better. For now, Larkin remains a member of the Red Wings. But the trade rumors are intensifying, and the Wings will have to figure this out sooner rather than later.
