The NBA has entered an era where blockbuster trades are no longer judged solely by the number of All-Stars involved. Flexibility and organizational timelines matter just as much as star power. Agents do not quite have the leeway to dictate where flawed talents land anymore. However, a four-team blockbuster involving the Boston Celtics, Memphis Grizzlies, New Orleans Pelicans, and Milwaukee Bucks could reshape the league’s landscape while solving pressing problems for everyone involved. That includes a mistreated Ja Morant and the analytically underappreciated Jaylen Brown.
The framework of the four-team trade is relatively straightforward and would require scrapping together draft capital instead of a haul from one front office.
- Celtics: Trey Murphy III and Herb Jones
- Grizzlies: Jaylen Brown and Jordan Poole
- Pelicans: Ja Morant, Santi Aldama, and Myles Turner
- Bucks: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Jordan Hawkins
Every team changes direction, but perhaps nobody benefits more individually than Brown and Morant. Boston reloads its championship core, Memphis lands its long-coveted franchise alpha, New Orleans doubles down on upside around Zion Williamson, and Milwaukee continues its post-Giannis Antetokounmpo transition with financial flexibility.
Instead of one franchise clearly winning the deal, every organization walks away with something it values. Headaches become headlining packages now instead of training camp migraines later. Brown and Morant get their clean slates in new cities. The deal works on paper. The question is whether all four front offices believe it would lead to postseason wins sooner rather than later.
Celtics see the light

Friction between Brown and the Celtics organization has been building for months. Boston has kept him available in trade discussions rather than committing to him as a franchise cornerstone, and that dynamic has grown untenable. Brown is talented enough to be a team’s primary option, and he has been vocal about wanting that recognition. Being noncommittal about the star forward’s future, with general manager Brad Stevens saying he “can’t predict the future” as trade speculation swirls, has made matters worse.
Moving Brown would never be easy. Replacing him with two elite wings, however, represents one of the few scenarios that make basketball sense. In this deal, Boston turns its disgruntled star into two elite perimeter role players. Memphis would provide Brown the perfect opportunity to prove Stevens wrong.
The Grizzlies have one of the more intriguing young cores in the league, and a run to the Play-In would be enough to earn MVP votes. Ty Jerome, Jaylen Wells, Cedric Coward, Cam Boozer, GG Jackson, and Zach Edey form a supporting cast with genuine upside.
Poole adds scoring punch off the bench and fits a need for perimeter creation. He could be flipped at the trade deadline or lead a late-season tank job. Either way, that money would come off the books before anyone needs a contract extension.
If the Grizzlies move quickly, there could be room to chase a secondary star like Brandon Ingram. The Toronto Raptors are all but signalling a pivot away from the current roster construction. Pairing Ingram with Brown would give the Grizzlies a legitimate two-man punch capable of competing in a shifting Western Conference.
Pelicans being patient

Few players enter next season with more to prove than Morant and Williamson. Both have experienced stretches where they looked capable of becoming perennial MVP candidates. Both have also battled injuries, criticism, and questions about leadership. Neither has been worth much on the trade market. New Orleans presents an opportunity for both stars to rewrite the narrative together.
Morant joining forces with Williamson creates one of basketball’s most explosive transition duos. Few defenses could consistently stop Williamson from attacking downhill while Morant pressures the rim from the perimeter. Acquiring Santi Aldama gives New Orleans another versatile frontcourt piece capable of stretching defenses while fitting multiple lineups. Losing Murphy III and Jones does not hurt as much already.
Turner supplies elite rim protection, championship experience, and dependable three-point shooting from the center position. His ability to defend without clogging the lane would maximize Williamson’s offensive strengths while allowing Morant greater driving lanes than he enjoyed in Memphis.
The roster would not necessarily stop evolving. If New Orleans completed this framework, moving Dejounte Murray for additional wing depth would become the next logical step. Veterans such as DeMar DeRozan or DeAndre Hunter would fit that objective while also creating the financial flexibility necessary to extend Saddiq Bey.
Instead of another awkward roster built around overlapping guards, the Pelicans would possess a more balanced lineup featuring elite athleticism at nearly every position.
Bucks break Giannis ties
Myles Turner was only brought in to appease Giannis and aid title runs. Well, that era is over. Trading Antetokounmpo signaled the beginning of a new chapter. This deal would help Milwaukee continue navigating it. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope remains one of the league’s most respected veteran role players, while Jordan Hawkins still possesses intriguing shooting upside.
Even more valuable are their contracts. Both could become attractive trade-deadline pieces for contenders searching for perimeter shooting and playoff experience. If suitable offers never materialize, Milwaukee quickly clears additional salary and continues reshaping its roster around younger talent.
In today’s lottery system, maintaining flexibility can be almost as valuable as chasing the last NBA Play-In Tournament spot. The Bucks would preserve both without sacrificing competitiveness during their rebuild. It is not a glamorous haul. But for a franchise navigating the post-Giannis transition, clearing the deck and preserving future options may be exactly the right move.
Whether such an ambitious framework ever materializes is another question entirely. But unlike many blockbuster concepts that simply shuffle stars from one jersey to another, this one gives every franchise and player a legitimate chance to accomplish their new goals.
