Jimmy Butler has played for five NBA franchises during his career, but the six-time All-Star hopes his final stop will be with the Golden State Warriors. Speaking with ESPN during a team event in San Francisco, Butler made it clear he wants to finish his playing career in the Bay Area.
“End is a bad word, but this is where I want to be done,” Butler said. “Retire here. This organization is top-tier. It’s the best. Keep it a buck. It’s the best. You’re playing with one of the greatest players ever. I’m grateful to be able to witness this. I want to be able to do my part, get this organization back on top where we belong.”
Butler arrived in Golden State at the 2025 NBA trade deadline following a turbulent end to his tenure with the Miami Heat. The move immediately paid dividends, as the Warriors secured a playoff berth by defeating the Memphis Grizzlies in the Play-In Tournament before advancing past the Houston Rockets in a seven-game first-round series.
Golden State’s postseason run came to an end in the Western Conference semifinals, where the Warriors fell to the Minnesota Timberwolves in five games after Stephen Curry suffered an injury.
Butler returned for his first full season with Golden State in 2025-26, but his campaign was cut short when he suffered a torn left ACL on Jan. 19, ending his season.
Now focused on his recovery, Butler has made it clear he hopes the remainder of his NBA journey will be spent in a Warriors uniform as the franchise looks to return to championship contention.
