Washington Wizards rookie AJ Dybantsa already has an idea of where he belongs in the virtual basketball world.
During a recent interview with Complex Sports, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft was asked what overall rating he believes he deserves when NBA 2K27 is released later this year.
When asked, “If your NBA 2K rating dropped today, what would you give yourself?” Dybantsa gave a confident but measured response.
“I’m a rookie so they probably give rookies like 70s?” Dybantsa said. “I’m giving myself a 79-80 [overall]. I’m giving myself 80.”
Dybantsa’s self-evaluation reflects confidence entering his first NBA season while acknowledging that rookies typically begin with lower ratings than established veterans. An 80 overall would place him among the higher-rated first-year players in recent editions of the franchise.

The 19-year-old enters the league with significant expectations after Washington selected him with the top overall pick. Widely regarded as one of the most talented prospects in recent draft classes, Dybantsa is expected to play a prominent role immediately as the Wizards look to accelerate their rebuild.
AJ Dybantsa’s NBA 2K rating prediction reflects confidence in Wizards future

Washington’s roster has changed dramatically over the past year. The Wizards acquired Trae Young from the Atlanta Hawks before landing Anthony Davis in a trade with the Dallas Mavericks. Dybantsa now joins a young core that also includes Alex Sarr, Bilal Coulibaly and Kyshawn George as the franchise looks to contend for a playoff spot in 2026-27.
While his official NBA 2K27 rating will ultimately be determined by the game’s developers, Dybantsa made it clear he believes his skill set already warrants an 80 overall entering his rookie campaign.
With training camp still months away, the Wizards’ newest cornerstone will soon find out whether the NBA 2K ratings team shares that confidence.
