Clippers rumors: LA committed to Kawhi Leonard, continue rebuffing trade offers

One of the hottest topics right now in the league is what the Los Angeles Clippers will do with Kawhi Leonard. There are a lot of things going on with the star, between the ongoing investigation around his current contract and the trade rumors floating around. Many teams are reportedly interested in acquiring the veteran, especially after a strong 2025-26 season.

However, is the interest mutual? Well, it seems like the answer is no. Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints reports that the Clippers are planning to keep Kawhi Leonard this offseason, despite the many trade rumors. While there isn’t interest from LA to trade their star player, that hasn’t stopped other teams from inquiring about the star.

“Multiple teams, including the Warriors, Timberwolves, and Pistons, have contacted the Clippers both at the trade deadline and this offseason to inquire about Leonard’s availability,” Siegel wrote. “At no point did Los Angeles show any interest in trading him, sources said.”

Siegel also notes that Leonard’s camp hasn’t shown any signs that he himself wants a trade.

“The Clippers also haven’t received any indications from Kawhi or his camp that he is unhappy with the team. Obviously, Leonard wants to win, and LA has been opportunistic when it comes to roster building around him. Trading James Harden was a decision the Clippers made to open financial flexibility and add a younger, more dynamic guard in their backcourt next to Leonard in Garland.”

Leonard, who is turning 35 in the upcoming season, had a career resurgence in 2025. He averaged 27.9 points per game on 50.5% shooting from the field, adding 6.3 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.9 steals per game. He also played in 65 games last year, being healthier than his previous season. The Clippers were unfortunately eliminated in the Play-In tournament.

Leonard and the Clippers are currently embroiled in a major controversy. The NBA is currently investigating a potential violation of the salary cap rules when LA signed the star forward in the 2019 offseason.
