The New York Mets have been without shortstop Francisco Lindor since late April as he deals with a calf injury. But as the franchise enters six-game homestand, Lindor plans to take another crucial step towards his long-awaited return.
Manager Carlos Mendoza confirmed that the shortstop is doing full baseball activities. There are still hurdles he needs to cross, but New York plans for Lindor to be active throughout the homestand, via SNY.
“He’s doing full baseball activity. He’s taking BP on the field, ground balls. He’s going to continue to do that this week,” Mendoza said. “He’s got to run the bases. And then we’ll see where we’re at at the end of the week and what the next step is. As of right now, the plan for him throughout this homestand is to do all baseball activities.”

There is still no direct timetable for Lindor’s return. However, the fact he is cleared for full baseball activities is a good sign. It seems like the biggest hurdle currently is the shortstop running bases. But if he proves that to not be a problem, alongside his other activities, throughout the homestand, his return will loom closer.
When Lindor is back on the diamond, he’ll be looking to improve the .226 batting average, two home runs, five RBIs and two stolen bases he had over his first 24 games in 2026. Coming off of an All-Star campaign in 2025, and as one of the leaders of the team, New York will be relying on Lindor to help lead their offense.
The Mets still do not know exactly when that will happen. But staying healthy while ramping up his efforts throughout the homestand would be a great sign for Lindor.
