The Cleveland Guardians are set to host the New York Yankees once again on Tuesday night. Cleveland was defeated by a final score of 7-5 in extra innings on Monday, as the Yankees earned the victory in a thrilling game. Before Tuesday’s game, Guardians manager Stephen Vogt shared an update on relief pitcher Eric Sabrowski, via Tim Stebbins of MLB.com.
“Stephen Vogt said Erik Sabrowski threw a bullpen yesterday that went really well. He’s set to throw another in the coming days and then they’ll figure out his next steps. A rehab assignment would seem to not be far away,” Stebbins reported.
Sabrowski, 28, made his MLB debut in 2024. He appeared in only eight games but displayed potential. In 2025, Sabrowski turned in a 1.84 ERA across 33 outings out of the bullpen. So far in 2026, the southpaw has recorded a 1.71 ERA across his 26 appearances.
The Guardians understand what it takes to help pitchers become stars at the MLB level. Sabrowski is another pitcher who has developed into a reliable pitcher with Cleveland.
Updates on Eric Sabrowski’s injury status will continue to be monitored and provided as they are made available.
Cleveland entered the game on Tuesday with a 37-31 overall record. The ball club leads the American League Central standings and is currently 1.5 games ahead of the second place Chicago White Sox. Meanwhile, the Yankees are second place in the American League East division with their 39-26 overall record.
The Guardians will attempt to bounce back on Tuesday night following their defeat on Monday against the Yankees.
