The Milwaukee Brewers made MLB history Monday night, surviving a wild 15-14 win over the Athletics at Las Vegas Ballpark despite allowing seven home runs.
The first-place Brewers improved to 41-23 by outlasting an Athletics offense that kept answering across 12 innings. The game produced 29 runs, 34 hits, 11 home runs, and 444 pitches from 14 pitchers, turning it into one of the strangest contests of the 2026 season.
USA Today’s Bob Nightengale posted on X, formerly Twitter, putting the Brewers’ improbable victory into historical perspective after the club survived a seven-homer barrage from the A’s. His note underscored just how unusual the night became, even by the standards of a 12-inning, 29-run marathon.
“The Milwaukee Brewers, with their 15-14 victory over the Athletics, tied an MLB record by allowing 7 HRs and still winning the game and tying a franchise record by allowing 14 runs in a victory.”

Teams almost never survive that kind of power barrage, but Milwaukee kept finding counters. Andrew Vaughn finished 4-for-6 with four RBI and delivered a game-tying double in the ninth. William Contreras later launched a 463-foot, three-run homer in the 10th.
Still, the Athletics refused to fade. Shea Langeliers hit a 483-foot homer, Tyler Soderstrom went deep twice, and second-year slugger Nick Kurtz also homered twice as Las Vegas Ballpark played like a launching pad.
The decisive moment finally came in the 12th. Christian Yelich began the inning as the automatic runner, advanced to third, then scored when Jeff McNeil threw wide to the plate.
Chad Patrick protected the lead in the bottom half. He escaped a corner-loaded jam by striking out McNeil, securing his third save and ending the marathon.
The game also set an MLB record with 16 ABS challenges, including 11 overturned calls, adding another layer to a night already defined by offense and replay drama.
For the Brewers, the win was messy, bizarre, and historic. Milwaukee gave up enough damage to lose most nights, but their lineup turned the game into a franchise-level survival act and one of the season’s wildest finishes.
