Hurricanes get hot early with 2 straight goals to open Game 4

The Stanley Cup Final has been nothing short of electric, and it was the Carolina Hurricanes racing out of the gate in their pivotal Game 4 matchup against the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday evening at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Fresh off their historic comeback effort in Game 3 that ultimately came up just short, the Hurricanes quickly grabbed the lead just 1:06 into regulation thanks to a goal from Logan Stankoven, his 11th of the 2026 postseason. A shot from defenseman Jalen Chatfield just missed the net, but Stankoven quickly grabbed the rebound in the slot and roofed a backhand shot past the blocker of goaltender Carter Hart for the 1-0 lead.

Just 1:22 later, the Hurricanes would extend their lead to 2-0 thanks to a tally from Jackson Blake, his sixth goal of the playoffs. Only seconds after a power play chance ended, Carolina’s Taylor Hall fed a pass to Blake at the side of the net, who made no mistake with a forehand shot past Hart

Meanwhile, the Golden Knights were not to be outdone, as they quickly announced their presence in the hockey game. Captain Mark Stone, who had what would have been Game 3’s opening goal taken away in the early second period because of offside, broke in alone on goaltender Brandon Bussi and beat him with a backhand-forehand deke, slipping the puck into the net to cut Carolina’s lead in half.

Bussi is making his first start of the postseason in relief of Frederik Andersen, who was pulled in Game 3 after allowing four Vegas goals.
