The Los Angeles Dodgers turned a tight game into a rout Tuesday night, erupting for 10 runs vs. the Pittsburgh Pirates in a wild seventh inning at PNC Park.
The Dodgers entered the frame tied 2-2 after a tense matchup built around Paul Skenes and Eric Lauer. Then L.A. completely overwhelmed the Pirates bullpen and turned one inning into a decisive offensive explosion.
Dalton Rushing scored on a pickoff error by Henry Davis to begin the chaos. Shohei Ohtani followed with a double that brought Alex Freeland home, and the pressure kept building from there.
MLB posted the sequence on X, formerly Twitter, after Freddie Freeman collected his 2,500th career hit while also driving in the club’s 10th run of the inning.
“2,500 career hits for Freddie Freeman!
He makes it a 10-run inning for the @Dodgers”

Freeman’s single scored Freeland and pushed Los Angeles’ lead to 12-2. It also gave him a major career milestone as the only active player with 2,500 hits.
The inning included more than Freeman’s achievement. Andy Pages launched a 410-foot, two-run homer, while Kyle Tucker reached on a fielder’s choice that scored Freeman after a throwing error by Brice Lowe.
Ryan Ward added an RBI single, Freeland walked with the bases loaded, and Ohtani drew another walk to force in Tucker. Pages later added a sacrifice fly.
By the end, the Dodgers had scored 10 runs on five hits, three walks, and two Pirates errors. Even without one knockout blow, Los Angeles stacked pressure until the Pirates broke.
The veteran first baseman’s 2,500th career hit gave the inning its lasting image. The Dodgers needed only one frame to bury the Pirates, while Freeman added another line to a career that is building toward Cooperstown as summer continues.
