The Carolina Hurricanes are looking for a win in Game 4 of the 2026 Stanley Cup Final. So far, their efforts are paying off in a big way. Jordan Staal was among the goal scorers in Carolina’s three-goal outburst in the first period. As a result, he has made some Stanley Cup Final history along the way.
“Jordan Staal is the first player in 43 years to score a goal in each of the first four games of a Stanley Cup Final. He joins Mike Bossy (1982 w/ NYI), Steve Payne (1981 w/ MNS), and Johnny Bucyk (4 GP in 1970 w/ BOS),” Hurricanes reporter Walt Ruff noted on Tuesday night.

It’s been an incredible performance from the Hurricanes so far in Game 4. Carolina opened the scoring early in the contest when Logan Stankoven found the back of the net just 66 seconds into the game. Jackson Blake scored later to make it 2-0. After a Vegas goal, Staal made it 3-1 before the end of the first period.
Unfortunately, the Hurricanes may have an issue keeping the puck out of the net. They have done extremely well in limiting the chances Vegas has had in this game. In fact, the Golden Knights have still not reached 10 shots on goal midway through the second period. However, Vegas has scored twice on its seven shots in this game.
Game 4 of this Stanley Cup Final is a crucial one for both teams. The Golden Knights could push the Hurricanes to the brink of elimination. Meanwhile, a Carolina win would turn this into a best-of-three series the rest of the way. No matter the result, Game 4 is set up for quite a thrilling conclusion.
