Napheesa Collier gives props to Olivia Miles for Lynx’s 8-game winning streak

The Minnesota Lynx are not missing Napheesa Collier that much, notching their eighth straight win after walloping the Dallas Wings, 100-76, at Target Center on Tuesday.

Collier, who signed a one-year contract extension, is still sidelined as she continues to recover from her ankle surgery. Initial reports claimed that she could return to action this month. She was recently cleared to resume basketball activities.

But even without the five-time All-Star, the Lynx have hardly experienced any hiccups. One of the major factors for the team’s impressive surge is Olivia Miles. Collier even said so when she was asked what makes Minnesota so tough to beat.

“I think the effort we have on offense and defense, every possession we’re working hard, and we have Olivia Miles,” said Collier with a smile.

Miles, the No. 2 pick in this year’s draft, delivered another astounding performance against the Wings, finishing with 24 points, seven rebounds, and six assists. She shot 7-of-10 from the field.

In their win over the Golden State Valkyries last week, she dropped a career-high 28 points on 8-of-11 shooting from beyond the arc. She also had four rebounds, seven assists, and three blocks.

Against the Wings, the 23-year-old guard dominated Azzi Fudd in a battle of the top two picks. Fudd, the No. 1 selection, only had six points on 2-of-12 shooting from the floor.

Miles is averaging all-around numbers of 17.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, 6.3 assists, and 1.4 steals.

Aside from Collier, Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve has been in awe as well of the prolific playmaker, lauding her confidence at such a young age.

Minnesota will try to extend its winning streak on Saturday against the Las Vegas Aces.
