Cardi B slams Donald Trump’s ‘dark’ energy during NBA Finals Game 3 appearance

The New York Knicks vs. San Antonio Spurs NBA Finals Game 3 was attended by several celebrities. Several top names, such as Ben Stiller, Christine Taylor, Timothée Chalamet, Derek Jeter, Spike Lee, DJ Khaled, and many others, attended the game.

However, while DJ Khaled went viral after the game for using his phone while sitting in an extremely expensive seat, USA President Donald Trump also went viral for seemingly falling asleep during the game at Madison Square Garden.

Trump became the first sitting president to attend an NBA Finals game when he attended Game 3 between the Knicks and Spurs at Madison Square Garden, which ended with the Spurs winning 111-115.

After performing at the halftime show for the New York home crowd in MSG, Cardi B addressed Donald Trump’s presence at the event on Instagram Live on Tuesday, Jun. 9, 2026, describing the “dark” energy he brought to the arena.

“It probably was,” Cardi B responded to a fan calling Trump’s attendance bad luck for the Knicks. “You can’t stop the president from f***ing going to a game, but it did feel a little dark in there. It’s OK,” she said. “It felt kinda dark. You know how it felt like in there? It felt like the principal was there and everybody had to be on their best behavior.”

With Trump attending the game, it also meant increased security measures for fans, which included shutting down the blocks surrounding Madison Square Garden. While critical of Trump in the past, Cardi B understood the reasons for the extra security.

Cardi B hit the court for a three-minute halftime show and performed “Bodega Baddie” and “Bodak Yellow alongside the Knicks City Dancers.
