The New York Yankees are playing well at the moment despite Aaron Judge’s injury absence. The Yankees are certainly hopeful that Judge can return sooner rather than later, but the ball club is finding success despite the circumstances. New York is going to buy at the MLB trade deadline, but what exactly will they pursue? What are the Yankees’ needs at the moment? Bradford Doolittle of ESPN recently answered the question.
Doolittle wrote in a recent article that New York could look to acquire a right-handed bat, a third baseman and bullpen help. A right-handed bat certainly makes sense, as the Yankees feature a number of left-handed hitters in the lineup.
Judge and Giancarlo Stanton are both injured. The ball club features other right-handed bats such as Jose Caballero, Paul Goldschmidt and Anthony Volpe, but bringing in another hitter would not be a bad idea.
The Yankees could use some help at third base. Ryan McMahon has struggled for most of the season. Amed Rosario has been inconsistent for the most part. Trading for an everyday third baseman would provide New York with more certainty at the hot corner.
Of course, bullpen help was mentioned. Every contender around the MLB world will surely be interested in acquiring at least one or two relievers. Bullpen arms are some of the most coveted players at the trade deadline every year.
The Yankees have decisions to make and trades to pursue. However, there is plenty of time before the upcoming MLB trade deadline.
