Despite hitting a game-winning shot to win a game against the Washington Mystics, Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark might’ve gone off-script, as her teammate, Sophie Cunningham, pointed out.
In Cunningham’s latest carousel of photos and videos on Instagram, the last slide included a meme of her sitting with Clark. The coach is asking if they followed the “plan,” to which Clark responded, “We may have… improvised.”
It doesn’t appear either of them regrets it, though. Both Clark and Cunningham have similar thoughts, with the former thinking, “Whoops,” and the latter thinking, “Oops?”
Clark commented on her post, simply writing, “Love you Soph.” Clearly, the two have a strong bond, not only as teammates but as friends.
Sophie Cunningham assisted Caitlin Clark on her game-winning shot for the Fever

A lot of the attention will rightfully go to Clark for her game-winning shot. However, Cunningham played a pivotal role in the play. She inbounded the ball, passing it to Clark, who got open off a screen.
The ball placement allowed Clark to step forward and hit the deep (but open) three-pointer. It secured a two-point win for the Fever.

The Fever are just 6-5 through 11 games of the season, but they are riding high off the exciting win. Clark led her team with 19 points, making four of her 10 three-pointers. Cunningham scored eight points in 23 minutes off the bench and had three rebounds.
Cunningham is about on par with her 2025 season through 11 games of the season. She is averaging 8.7 points per game (in 2025, she averaged 8.6 points per game). Additionally, she is averaging 2.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.
This is Clark and Cunningham’s second season together on the Fever. The latter was traded to Indiana as part of a four-team trade. She had previously spent the first six years of her WNBA career with the Phoenix Mercury.
