It has been an interesting past few weeks for veteran Chris Taylor. The former Los Angeles Dodgers All-Star most recently appeared in the minor leagues with the Los Angeles Angels. It was reported in May that Taylor had retired. However, he was later listed on the injured list, leading to speculation that Taylor had un-retired. The 35-year-old recently joined AM 570 Sports to discuss what truly occurred.
“Kind of a weird way it happened,” Taylor said. “I mean, long story short… I was with the Salt Lake Bees (Angels’ minor league team) at the time, and I kind of told them that I was done. I got hit by a pitch and fractured my arm first, I don’t think a lot of people know that. But I told them that I was gonna, probably, ‘That’s it for me. I’m gonna go home to my family.’ I signed the papers and I think it was voluntary retirement, so that was the transaction.
“And that got released right away. We had it switched to the IL, you know, just to try to keep it under wraps a little bit, but it was too late at that point. And then when it got switched, people thought I un-retired and was coming back. It was very strange.”
Taylor enjoyed an impressive big league career. He won two World Series championships with the Dodgers and earned one All-Star selection. He spent time with the Seattle Mariners and Angels as well, but Taylor is known for his time with the Dodgers.
