College Football 27 Road To Glory Mode is back and bigger and better than ever this year. Overall, fans can expect to see big additions like new positions to choose from, an overhauled character creation screen, and updates to the weekly agenda. For those new to EA CFB, Road To Glory (RTG) is a player-career mode which follows you from your high school days to the end of your collegiate career. Without further ado, let’s dive right in.

College Football 27 Road To Glory Details – Everything You Need to Know

Overall, the biggest additions coming to College Football 27 Road To Glory this year are:

  • Three new positions to choose from (TE, FS, EDGE)
  • Upgraded Player Creation
  • New Draft Projections & Legacy Score
  • New Scenarios & Dilemmas
  • & More

CFB 27 RTG Adds Three New Positions, Upgraded Player Builder

Firstly, College Football 27’s RTG Mode now features three new positions to choose from. In addition to the five returning positions, you can now play as a Tight End, Free Safety, or an EDGE Rusher. This creates new ways to live out a player career, which you can then send to Madden 27.

But that’s not even the biggest upgrade with player creation this year. CFB 27’s character creation received a massive overhaul, with a much more extensive character builder. While the game offers a bunch of templates based on real-life players, you can also choose to just build your own.

Similar to Visual Concepts’ NBA 2K franchise, this character builder allows you to allocate points to your character’s max potential. For example, as a QB you can allocate points to your throw accuracy, strength, speed, carrying, and much more. These won’t represent your stats right away, but rather what they can become through progressing your character.

Before you allocate points, your player’s size also plays a role in their stats. Editing their height and weight adjustments may impact a player’s speed, accuracy, strength, etc. So maybe you want to be a tall tight end who’s packed on a few extra pounds to be a strong blocker as well? Or, perhaps you want to play as a slim WR like DeVonta Smith with good agility and quicker movement. The choice is yours.

Of course, you also need to keep in mind that these changes may affect your stats negatively. A tall, heavy QB will likely struggle on the run, but may be strong with great throwing accuracy. So it feels like a mini-game of its own before beginning your journey.

Fortunately, you can earn Cap Breakers throughout your experience (up to 25 total). You can apply up to five per attribute, helping you break the limit of what you’re capable of. Of course you need to earn them, but they can make a difference between a win and loss in certain situations.

Draft Projections & Legacy Score, Explained

Like last year, you begin your journey in High School, building your tape and receiving offers from colleges. This experience gives you more games to play and more time to improve yourself as a player. But your work only begins once you make it to campus.

Everything you do in College Football 27 impacts your Draft Projection and Legacy Score. The former, as the name suggests, shows your projected landing spot when you make it to the NFL. Additionally, it shows some of your biggest wins and moments, explaining as to why you climbed up the ranks. Beating a rival, winning as an underdog, or just performing extremely well all impacts your projection.

Conversely, your Legacy Score represents what you leave behind in College. These same performances that set you apart from the rest are also recorded and applied to your legacy score. You can then compare that score to other legendary college players and see how you fare against them.

But what about the day-to-day activities?

New Dilemmas & Scenarios in the Weekly Agenda

Overall, the weekly structure of RTG will be similar to last year’s experience. However, EA added new dilemmas and scenarios that will make everything in between each game just as challenging. For example, the most notable example are the new College Exams, which you now actually need to take in order to pass. Gone are the days of just pushing a button to study.

However, if you allocate your energy points towards studying, your exam will be much easier. Therefore, you need to allocate your points appropriately to manage your education.

The problem is, you also need to allocate energy towards things like your training, brand, and more. Additionally, the game will hit you with scenarios that present you with options of doing different things. Do you skip a study session to do something else, or commit to your studies to make your test easier? Overall, these micro-challenges force you to spend your time wisely and make the right choices.

Additionally, Practice has become the new way to earn XP for your player. Partake in position drills and team drills and perform well to earn XP. All of this leads to the action on Gameday, where your skills will be put to the test.

Of course, there’s a lot more you need to watch out for. College Football 27 brings other big gameplay changes like Dynamic Weather and new WR/DB Jostle interactions to make each snap more challenging.

There’s much more going on with Road To Glory this year, so check out the official blog from EA Sports. We look forward to learning more about the game as we approach its launch this July.
