Cubs’ injury woes continue as starter suffers setback after rehab start

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Matthew Boyd was seemingly expected to return from injury soon. However, he suffered a setback following a recent rehab start and bullpen outing. The Cubs have dealt with no shortage of injury woes this year, and this is yet another concerning update.

“Craig Counsell said Matthew Boyd was feeling shoulder soreness after his most recent rehab start and that he wasn’t feeling how he wanted to after a bullpen session Tuesday. The Cubs are slowing down Boyd’s return from the IL, and he won’t start this weekend in San Francisco,” Vinnie Duber reported.

It remains to be seen when Boyd could return. The Cubs are reportedly slowing down his recovery, but it was not reported that he was being shut down.

Updates will continue to be monitored and provided on Matthew Boyd’s injury status as they are made available.
