The New York Knicks did not have the best start in Game 4 of the NBA Finals against the San Antonio Spurs at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday.
The Spurs jumped to a double-digit lead in the first quarter, as Karl-Anthony Towns, who has done a solid job against Victor Wembanyama, was forced to sit early after incurring two fouls in the first minute.
Towns was whistled for an offensive foul at the 10:55 mark after the referees overturned what was initially called a personal foul on Wembanyama, which the Spurs challenged. It appeared that Towns hooked the arm of Wembanyama as he tried to make a layup.

Fans on X were livid over the overturned decision.
“This is actually getting ridiculous. It’s not even funny anymore,” said @Ballknower31.
“The most ridiculous overturn in sports history. WHAT THE F*** ARE WE WATCHING?” asked @GenghisKahn1184.
“Absolutely was not a hook. Both hands were on the ball. Where’s he supposed to hold it? NBA really is the new WWE,” wrote @ArthurJJohnson.
“Golden Boy Wemby got caught reaching and still overturned,” added @NoStraightBets.
“The league has spoken. It’s Wemby no matter what. That’s who they want to win, and that’s who they are going to get,” commented @DevinJohns28168.
“I can’t even begin to fathom what they called KAT for here,” posted @JAcks3593.
The Spurs took advantage of Towns’ absence and went on a scoring surge. Wembanyama manhandled Mitchell Robinson, who looked gassed defending him.
The Knicks were bludgeoned in the first quarter, 41-22. Wembanyama has 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting, three rebounds, one assist, and one block.
Towns had three points and one turnover in three minutes.
