NBA guard Chris Paul takes his Scott Foster hate to next level with hilarious quip

Chris Paul’s dislike for Scott Foster has never been a secret to NBA fans. The former star point guard always seemed to butt heads with the official whenever the latter was assigned to his games. Paul’s losing record when Foster officiated one of his games only seemed to add more fuel to this “rivalry”. Now that Paul has retired, has his disdain for the infamous referee dissipated?

Not one bit. Paul made an appearance on the “Pat McAfee Show”, and the discussion veered towards the officials in the NBA. McAfee and Paul took some jabs at the referees, and eventually, the topic went to Foster. As McAfee was closing the segment, he cheekily said that maybe Paul and Foster would get dinner one day. The star point guard’s response was quick, shutting that idea down.

Paul and Foster’s relationship has been strained for nearly the entirety of the former’s career. The two always seemed to butt heads when Paul played in the NBA. Foster has been accused of being biased against the point guard. Paul’s record certainly doesn’t help quell these accusations – the point guard was 3-17 in the playoff games that Foster officiated.

After an incident in 2023 that saw Foster eject Paul after two straight technical fouls, the NBA legend had this to say.

“We had a situation some years ago, and it’s personal,” Paul said. “The league knows, everybody knows, and it’s been a meeting and all that. It’s a situation with my son and so, yeah. I’m O.K. with a ref talking, saying whatever, just don’t use a tech to get your point across.
