Oilers rumors: Edmonton linked to Bobby McMann after successful Kraken stint

The Edmonton Oilers currently have their hands full as they attempt to extend Connor McDavid to a long-term contract. Now, there are reports that they could be interested in Bobby McMann after his successful stint on the Seattle Kraken, according to Tyler Kuehl of Daily Faceoff.

“The Oilers are looking for a little more depth in the lineup after a disappointing end to the 2025-26 season. While some might consider a trade might be the way to go, there are some pending free agents that could be worth taking a look at. One of those players is forward Bobby McMann. While he isn’t the youngest player available, his stock is high after a couple of productive seasons,” Kuehl wrote.

McMann had 20 goals with the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2024-25 season. Then, he netted 29 goals and 46 points between his time with the Leafs and Kraken last season. McMann is also at the end of a two-year contract with an AAV of just $1.35 million. Yet, there will almost certainly be a pay raise.

The Oilers stumbled this season, losing in The First Round to the Anaheim Ducks. Significantly, many blamed injuries and lack of depth. It was notable that the Oilers lost a few depth pieces last offseason.

The Oilers are looking to make a splash and hope to make some moves to help Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. Ultimately, they hope that added depth pieces can help them make another long playoff run. Securing a player like McMann would give them options, putting him on the second or third lines. This would be helpful for the Oilers when they need to rest McDavid or Draisaitl.
