The New York Knicks are one win away from their first NBA championship since 1973, but ESPN’s Mike Greenberg believes a small group of fans crossed the line during the NBA Finals.
During Thursday’s edition of Get Up, Greenberg strongly condemned individuals who allegedly harassed San Antonio Spurs players and fans following New York’s dramatic 107-106 victory in Game 4 on Wednesday night.
His comments came after a video shared by KingCharge on X, formerly known as Twitter, appeared to show fans throwing objects at Spurs star Victor Wembanyama as he headed into the team’s hotel following the loss.
Greenberg also referenced other incidents involving Spurs supporters during the series.
“For those, I don’t want to call them fans, I don’t even know what you want to say… If you’re throwing eggs at Victor Wembanyama and the other night, if you’re beating up people, threatening, or doing anything to people wearing Spurs jerseys, just know that you are a disgrace.”
“You’re not disgracing the city, you’re disgracing yourself and everyone that knows you and that should go without saying.”

Greenberg continued by expressing frustration that such behavior needed to be addressed at all.
“We live in a world [where] somehow things go without saying anymore.”
“People are like Greeny, why haven’t you said anything about these lunatics beating up Spurs fans? Does that need to be said? You’re a disgrace and everyone around you knows it.”

The incidents came amid heightened emotions surrounding a Finals series that has captivated New York. The Knicks erased a 29-point deficit in Game 4 to secure the largest comeback in NBA Finals history and take a commanding 3-1 lead over San Antonio.
Wembanyama finished Game 4 with 24 points, 13 rebounds, three blocks and one assist while shooting 9-for-25 from the field, 2-for-8 from 3-point range and 4-for-7 from the free-throw line across 44 minutes. The Spurs star also missed two crucial free throws in the fourth quarter as San Antonio squandered a 29-point lead. Meanwhile, OG Anunoby and Jalen Brunson helped power New York to the brink of a championship.
Greenberg made it clear that the actions of a small group of individuals should not reflect on the broader Knicks fan base, which has energized Madison Square Garden and the city throughout the team’s playoff run.
The series now shifts back to Frost Bank Center for Game 5 on Saturday night at 8:30 p.m. ET on ABC. The Knicks will have an opportunity to clinch their first NBA title in 53 years, while the Spurs will attempt to extend the series and force a Game 6.
