Knicks vs. Spurs 2026 NBA Finals Game 5 prediction, odds, pick

The 2026 NBA Finals are heading back to San Antonio as we bring you a prediction and pick for this upcoming Game 5 tilt. The New York Knicks will visit the San Antonio Spurs leading the NBA Finals 3-1 with a chance to close out on the road. Check our NBA Finals odds series for the Knicks-Spurs prediction and pick.

Game 4 between the Spurs and Knicks could be one of the greatest NBA Finals performances Madison Square Garden has ever witnessed, capped off by the Knicks completing the largest comeback (29 points) in NBA Finals history. They won the game 107-106 on a last-second tip-in from OG Anunoby following a missed Brunson three, securing their first Finals win at MSG in 27 years.

The Spurs will head back to San Antonio down 1-3 for the first time during these NBA Playoffs. Still, they managed to overcome a 1-2 deficit against defending champions Oklahoma City, furthering the narrative that they’ll still have the best player on the floor in Victor Wembanyama giving them a chance in this series.

Keys to Knicks vs. Spurs Finals Matchup

There isn’t much the Spurs could have done better during the first half of Game 4, seemingly convincing everyone the series would already be tied 2-2. Their 76 points at halftime was the most of any Finals’ half in NBA history as their 14 made three-pointers also set a Finals’ half record. However, they came out in the third quarter noticeably slow and only totaled 14 points while allowing 26 points to New York. Once the Knicks were able to cut the lead, the Spurs had a difficult time regaining any sort of momentum against the ruckus Madison Square Garden crowd.

For the Knicks, OG Anunoby was their spark plug all game and he’s making a great case for Finals MVP if the Knicks are able to secure a championship win. Averaging just 10.5 PPG against San Antonio during the regular season, Anunoby is currently averaging 23.8 PPG during these NBA Finals while shooting a blistering 55.8% on 15 total made threes. If he can replicate this kind of pace in Game 5, it’ll be impossible for the Spurs to hold the Knicks down from all angles.

The major issue with the Spurs has been their ability to close out these Finals games and they’ve looked noticeably sluggish after beginning each game leading for the first half. Victor Wembanyama is averaging 40.3 minutes per game after logging 44 minutes in Game 4, currently seeing the highest usage of his career during these NBA Playoffs. For Wembanyama and the Spurs to truly become unstoppable, they’ll have to keep their energy high while providing support for their generational talent.

The Knicks are still up 3-1 in the series despite the notable struggles of Mikal Bridges all series and the disappearance of Karl-Anthony Towns in the fourth quarter of these NBA Finals. Ultimately, the Knicks are still 2-0 on the Spurs’ home floor and while the fans may want a close-out game in New York, the Knicks should look to end this series ASAP and not risk similar comebacks from the Spurs.

Knicks vs. Spurs Prediction and Pick

Game 4 has to be the biggest gut punch the Spurs have felt all season and with how visibly emotional Victor Wembanyama has been throughout these NBA Playoffs, we can expect the most motivated version of the Spurs ahead of their Game 5 tilt at home.

Not only was the loss demoralizing, but the effort to come back 29 points and win on a final tip-in basket also has to have the New York Knicks completely spent ahead of Game 5. They’ve been able to handle everything the Spurs throw at them, so it’ll be interesting to see if they become dominant once Towns and Bridges show up in this series.

Still, I think this series is far from over for the Spurs and they should be highly motivated to bounce back on their home floor. They have the recipe for completely dominating the Knicks on both sides of the ball, but it’ll take two full halves of basketball for them to remain competitive in this series.

Final Knicks-Spurs Game 5 Prediction & Pick: San Antonio Spurs -5.5 (-108); OVER 216.5 (-110)
