Mexico is on the board! The fans in Mexico City at Estadio Banorte are going crazy as their national team has scored the opening goal of the 2026 World Cup.

South Africa had a blunder on the field in the 9th minute. With possession in front of their own goal, Sphephelo Sithole lost the ball, and Julian Quiñones took advantage and smashed it into the back of the net. Erik Lira had the assist.
