A season of turmoil has led to an offseason of change for Real Madrid. After club president Florentino Perez was elected once again, the club has initiated a flurry of moves. Jose Mourinho is set to return to the dugout for a second tenure as Real’s head coach. New signings Ibrahima Konate and Denzel Dumfries are set to join Mourinho’s defensive rotation. As the “Special One” prepares to take charge of Real started July 13th, soccer insider Fabrizio Romano has announced what looks like another new signing by Perez. Via X, formerly Twitter, Romano has stated that former Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva will join the Spanish club.

,” posted Romano on Thursday afternoon. “Agreement at final stages after official proposal valid until June 2028 plus potential option. Bernardo Silva, ready to join Real Madrid.”
If the deal is completed, Silva will join Konate and Dumfries as the newest options for Mourinho’s squad. In his reelection bid, Perez announced that he would pursue a number of options to improve the first team roster. After former manager Carlo Ancelotti left the club ahead of last season, Real hired Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso as his replacement. However, Alonso was fired after less than eight months at the helm, in a season where Madrid failed to win any silverware.
Now, Perez and Mourinho will look to get Real Madrid back on track. The transfers of Silva, Dumfries, and Konate will be a big boost. Silva in particular, will become a locker room leader on a roster filled with exciting young talent. While Madrid’s attack features such stars as Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr., it was clear that the defense and midfield needed help. Look for a few more signings (Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez is a rumored top target) from Perez to improve Mourinho’s first squad in his return to a revitalized Santiago Bernabeu.
