Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Jameson Taillon exited the team’s game on Sunday night against the San Francisco Giants in the 2nd inning. According to Jesse Rogers of ESPN, Taillon left the game due to a hamstring strain. Talkin’ Baseball also shared a video of Taillon exiting the game against the Giants.

Taillon immediately motioned to the Cubs’ dugout after walking Matt Chapman. He was seemingly in pain and the Cubs’ trainer as well as head coach Craig Counsell came out to check on him. Taillon then exited the matchup with no outs in the second inning.
It is no secret that the Cubs’ pitching has dealt with injury concerns this year. Now with Taillon dealing with an injury, Chicago will likely seriously consider trading for a pitcher or two before the trade deadline. The Cubs have been mentioned as a potential suitor for Tarik Skubal, but they may look to inquire about a number of starters.
Taillon, 34, entered the game on Sunday with a 5.13 ERA across 12 starts. His 20 home runs are also the most in the league. Despite his underwhelming performance, the Cubs are obviously still hopeful he will not have to miss too much time. Their rotation needs all of the help it can get at the moment.
The Cubs and Giants are currently tied 1-1 in their three-game series. Chicago will attempt to earn the victory on Sunday night despite Taillon’s early departure.
Updates on Jameson Taillon’s injury status will continue to be monitored and provided as they are made available.
