Mets’ Juan Soto surpasses Mike Trout, Mickey Mantle with historic feat

Juan Soto is on a historic roll throughout his career, surpassing Mickey Mantle and Mike Trout in another category following the New York Mets’ clash with the Atlanta Braves on Saturday evening.

Soto is going through the ninth year of his career in the majors, his second with the Mets. He stands out as one of the best hitters in the league’s history, being a nightmare for bullpens to prepare against.

Soto has done an excellent job at keeping his numbers high, especially the OPS+ statistic. This season marks the ninth he has been able to boast an OPS+ of 140 or higher. It allowed him to take first place in that all-time chart, surpassing Trout and Mantle in the process, via MLB Network.

How Juan Soto, Mets played against Braves

Juan Soto had a decent night hitting the ball in Game 2 of this weekend’s series against the Braves. However, the Mets struggled offensively as they lost 3-1 in Game 2. This comes after they secured a 7-5 victory in Game 1 on Friday.

Runs didn’t come often in the middle contest. Atlanta scored the first runs in the second and fourth innings, seeing Eli White shine with both scores.

New York finally got on the board in the sixth inning as Mark Vientos converted an RBI single to left field. Unfortunately, that was the only run the hosts got as Atlanta scored the final run of the night in the eighth frame.

New York fell to a 31-39 record on the season, remaining at the bottom of the NL East Division standings. They are behind the Miami Marlins and the Washington Nationals at the moment.

The Mets will look to bounce back in their series finale against the Braves. The contest takes place on June 14 at 1:40 p.m. ET.
