Reggie Miller buries the hatchet with Spike Lee after Knicks’ NBA title

The New York Knicks have officially reached the NBA mountaintop after defeating the San Antonio Spurs in Game 5 of the NBA Finals on Saturday night. Jalen Brunson won NBA Finals MVP for his 45-point performance to seal the Knicks’ first championship since the 1973 season.

Several celebrity Knicks fans were in attendance to watch the team win the championship, including Spike Lee. After the game, Lee’s former adversary, Indiana Pacers legend Reggie Miller, took to Instagram to congratulate Lee on the team’s championship.

“This may shock MANY, but I have to give my Brotha @officialspikelee his flowers, he’s been around for the Good-Bad-Ugly.. Congrats Spike.. ” wrote Miller.

Indeed, unlike many of the celebrities who attended games during this playoff run, Lee was around even when the Knicks were the laughingstock of the NBA, which was a large chunk of the 21st century prior to Brunson’s arrival in 2022.

However, the Knicks are now the ones doing the laughing, as the team has silenced all of its doubters with this playoff run, from those complaining about the insane amount of picks the team gave up for Mikal Bridges, to others wondering why the team elected to fire Tom Thibodeau and hire Mike Brown last offseason.

The Knicks figure to bring back largely the same core of players next year, and although they aren’t exactly a young team, this core figures to have at least a couple more years of competitive seasons together before players start to noticeably decline.

In any case, the Knicks will now get ready for their parade, which is set to take place on Thursday through the streets of Manhattan.
