Sophie Cunningham celebrates clutch heater to help Fever put down Sun

The Indiana Fever got another huge win in their latest game. Indiana took care of Connecticut 85-75 on Saturday night to improve to 8-5 on the season. One Fever player got red hot in the closing minutes of that matchup, almost single-handedly willing the team to victory.

Fever guard Sophie Cunningham made a celebratory post on social media following her clutch performance against the Sun.

Cunningham posted a pair of photos of herself on Instagram celebrating 3-point shots from the fourth quarter.

The 29-year-old guard gave Indiana a boost at the end of the game exactly when the team needed it most. Cunningham went on a heater to end the fourth quarter, scoring the last 11 points for the Fever and securing their 10-point victory.

Cunningham hit three consecutive 3-pointers and drove to the cup for an impressive layup in the final minutes of the game. She subbed into the game with 3:56 left on the clock and got right to work.

Connecticut attempted to make a comeback, but Cunningham delivered a dagger of a 3-pointer with just 23 seconds left.

Caitlin Clark also played a big role in the winning effort. She finished with 25 points, three rebounds, five assists, and one block in 36 minutes on the court.

Indiana is now on a three-game winning streak and improved to 4-1 in Commissioner’s Cup games. Fever fans should be rooting for the Mystics to take down the Liberty on Sunday to keep their Commissioner’s Cup hopes alive.

Next up for the Fever is their inaugural matchup against Tempo. The game tips off at 7PM ET on June 16th from Coca-Cola Coliseum in Toronto.
