Jalen Brunson is clearing the air about Monica McNutt and Taylor Swift.
Following the New York Knicks’ historic 94-90 win last night (June 13) against the San Antonio Spurs, Brunson spoke to McNutt and made sure Swift fans gave the reporter a break amid her slip-up.
“I just want to say something to the Swifties. She’s a really good one. Cut her some slack. It’s all good. I promise,” Brunson said.
McNutt began laughing and responded, “Thank you.”

Swift attended Game 4 of the NBA Finals alongside Alana, Danielle, and Este Haim in their customized Knicks merch. As she walked into the stadium, McNutt recognized her and pointed her out.
“Is that Taylor Swift down there?” McNutt asked Knicks’ radio voice, Tyler Murray.
McNutt is later heard saying, “She’s not a Knicks fan, get out of here, girl,” McNutt said.

McNutt has since apologized per TMZ and shared she has since learned about the singer’s fandom. The outlet reports that since she’s been covering celebrity row all season and didn’t see Swift, it reflected in her assumption.
Brunson is not the only one to have legitimized Swift’s Knicks fandom. Knicks alum Amar’e Stoudemire also defended the pop star.
“She’s a Knicks fan,” Stoudemire told TMZ Sports. “Back when I played, we had a great friendship. She showed up to a few practices. We even had her dunk a basketball.”
Stoudemire, who played for the Knicks for five seasons — 2010 to 2015 — added that he has has “great conversation” with the singer and her family when she was at previous Knicks games.
Swift has spoken about her admiration for the New York team in the past as she first performed at a Knicks sponsored talent show in her childhood.
“So I’ve always had this sort of love of the Knicks, just because Amar’e is so cool,” Swift told Time Magazine in 2014. “And also I performed at the Knicks’ — at Madison Square Garden’s Kids Talent Competition at halftime — when I was 12 or 13,” Swift explained.
