Kansas City Royals star Vinnie Pasquantino exited the team’s 8-7 loss against the Houston Astros on Saturday due to a right hamate fracture. The Royals have dealt with injury concerns all season and now Pasquantino is set to miss time. Royals manager Matt Quatraro said Pasquantino already underwent hamate surgery and the first baseman is expected to miss four to six weeks, per Foul Territory.
Pasquantino has struggled this season. He has hit just .224/.309/.350 across 68 games played. Pasquantino has recorded six home runs, 10 doubles and two triples as well. Despite his overall struggles, the Royals will still obviously miss the infielder’s presence on the field.
Updates on Vinnie Pasquantino’s injury status will continue to be monitored and provided as they are made available.
At 28-43 overall, Kansas City is currently in last place in the American League Central standings. They are currently 10.5 games behind the Cleveland Guardians for first place in the division. With Pasquantino out for at least one month, the Royals’ chances of selling ahead of the trade deadline will increase.
Kansas City could possibly turn things around. However, the Royals have been inconsistent at best throughout the 2026 campaign up to this point. They need to get back on track soon.
For now, the ball club is focused on its contest on Sunday against the Astros. The Astros lead the series at the moment, so the Royals are hoping to avoid a sweep. First pitch for the ball game between Houston and Kansas City on Sunday afternoon is scheduled for 2:20 PM EST.
