Indiana’s Curt Cignetti secures potential D’Angelo Ponds replacement in 2027 CB

The Indiana football team is getting ready for the 2026 season, but also picking up solid players on the recruiting trail. The Hoosiers earned the pledge Sunday of 2027 cornerback Chris Bradley, per Rivals.

“All Glory To God, Hoosier Nation I’m coming home,” Bradley said to the outlet.

The corner chose Indiana over several other programs including Wisconsin and Temple. He is listed as 5-foot-10 and 160 pounds. His build is similar to former Hoosiers star D’Angelo Ponds, who is a rookie with the New York Jets.

Bradley recently visited Indiana. He feels like the Ponds comparison is a fair assessment.

“I feel like I have an all around game,” Bradley said, per On3. “I have the speed, twitch, jumping ability. I’m an all around player. Coach Cig wouldn’t say I resemble D’Angelo Ponds for nothing.”

Indiana is led by head coach Curt Cignetti, who is headed into his third season at the helm. His 2025 Hoosiers team had a dream season; Indiana went undefeated after winning both the Big Ten and the national championship.

Curt Cignetti is hoping for another strong season at Indiana

In both of his seasons at Indiana, Cignetti made the College Football Playoff. He immediately turned the program into one of the top programs in the Big Ten. Indiana fans hope that Cignetti can keep the program there.

“We’re coming off the national championship,” Cignetti said, per the school, “and there are a lot of feel goods out there. It’s really important we have the edge and get better. Our guys have to be humble and hungry. So much of it is between the ears. That’s going to be really important this summer and fall.”

Before heading to Bloomington, Cignetti was head coach at James Madison, Elon and Division II Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He also was an assistant at several schools, including under Nick Saban at Alabama.

Indiana kicks off the 2026 football season against North Texas. That game is scheduled for September 5.
