Knicks greeted by adoring fans back in New York after NBA title

The New York Knicks are basking in the glow of their recent NBA championship win over the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday night. The Knicks followed a familiar script in this game, battling back from an early deficit and making all the clutch plays down the stretch in order to beat San Antonio and claim their first NBA title in 53 years.

Now, a new video has shown the Knicks getting off their team plane after landing back in New York City, with a few fans in attendance to greet them.

In Game 5, the Knicks were led by Jalen Brunson, who scored 45 points to keep his team afloat offensively on what was otherwise a rough shooting night for New York. The Knicks had to overcome a quiet night from Karl-Anthony Towns, who scored just two points in 23 minutes as he battled foul trouble throughout the evening.

In their four wins in this series, the Knicks showed much more poise than the younger Spurs, who appeared to run out of gas down the stretch of games after their seven-game war in the Western Conference Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Knicks, meanwhile, had lost just two games in the playoffs leading up to the Finals, and have now completed one of the most dominant playoff runs in recent NBA history.

While they aren’t necessarily young, the Knicks still figure to be in contention for at least another couple of years with this group as they look to avoid another 53-year drought on the heels of this championship.

The Knicks’ championship parade is set for Thursday in New York City.
