Is William Karlsson playing tonight? Golden Knights vs. Hurricanes Game 6 injury report

The Vegas Golden Knights are facing elimination in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final against the Carolina Hurricanes. In Game 5 in Raleigh, a key Knights forward was knocked out of the game. The Golden Knights will remain without William Karlsson for Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final due to an arm injury.

“William Karlsson won’t play in Game 6,” The Athletic’s Jesse Granger reported.

Karlsson is one of the original members of the Golden Knights and has played in all three of the franchise’s Stanley Cup Final appearances. He played only 14 games in the regular season due to a lower-body injury, but returned to score nine points in 15 playoff games before the arm injury.

Karlsson scored a huge goal in Game 1 against the Hurricanes, giving the Golden Knights a second-period lead. But after playing only 8:43 in Game 5, he was knocked out with an injury. Considering the eternal salary cap crunch the Golden Knights are in, this could be Karlsson’s last season in Vegas.

The Golden Knights activated defenseman Jeremy Lauzon for the Stanley Cup Final, giving them a fully healthy roster. Without Karlsson, they can turn to either Reilly Smith or Brandon Saad, both Stanley Cup Champions. The Hurricanes don’t have any official injuries, but the one move they have made has worked perfectly.

During Game 3, Frederik Andersen was sent to the bench in favor of Brandon Bussi. The new Hurricanes goalie picked up where he left off in the regular season, forcing overtime in Game 3 and securing victory in Games 4 and 5. While Andersen is not listed on the injury report, he has not even been the backup since his removal.

The Golden Knights and Hurricanes play Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final on Sunday at 8 p.m. If Vegas wins, Game 7 will be on Wednesday.
