‘Really Drunk’ Jose Alvarado leads Puerto Rico parade in New York after NBA title

Brooklyn native Jose Alvarado entered celebration mode during the last 24 hours with the New York Knicks. An intoxicated Alvarado showed up at the Puerto Rico Parade following their NBA Finals win over the San Antonio Spurs.

A shirtless Alvarado partied in his home city. And Alvarado didn’t mince words over the microphone regarding his real state.

“Yo I’m blessed. And really drunk,” Alvarado said aloud which drew rabid cheers.

Fans proudly waved the Puerto Rico flag at the annual parade that draws thousands. Alvarado’s presence on the Knicks galvanized the city’s Puerto Rican community. He even brought out the country flag proudly after winning the championship.

“I have no words. It’s special. It’s something we’re going to celebrate for the rest of our lives. I’m happy we achieved it, and the way we did it made it even more special,” Alvarado told Monica McNutt of Gotham Sports after beating the Spurs 94-90 in Game 5.

So he’s the only New York native on the roster, even though the city has embraced Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns and the others like their own. But “Grand Theft Alvarado” delivered a stout defensive presence for the champs. The 6-foot guard emerged as one of the top options at collecting steals for the Knicks. Alvarado surfaced as one of the spark plugs behind the epic 29-point comeback in Game 4 at Madison Square Garden.

Now Alvarado tasted the championship champagne inside the Knicks locker room. He carried his intoxicated self into the Puerto Rico Parade. Thursday’s Knicks parade could see similar drunk energy from Alvarado.
