Some believe that seeing a snake is a bad omen, as it symbolizes danger. But do not tell that to Mitchell Robinson.
Robinson helped the New York Knicks win their first title since 1973 after outlasting the San Antonio Spurs in Game 5 of the NBA Finals at Frost Bank Center on Saturday. He grabbed a crucial offensive rebound after a missed free throw by Josh Hart with just 22 seconds left and the Knicks only leading by three points, 91-88.
In the postgame interview, the 28-year-old center shared that he caught a snake in their hotel for the second time in their run to the championship.
“You know what’s crazy? Yesterday at the hotel, I caught a snake. Again. You know, I caught a snake at the beginning of the playoffs. When we played Atlanta, we won. I caught one last night, and we won today. I think it’s something about snakes,” said Robinson in a video posted by SNY.

Robinson, who played through a finger injury in the NBA Finals, even posted a video of the snake he caught in San Antonio.

Robinson tallied two points, 10 rebounds, including six from the offensive glass, and two assists in 20 minutes off the bench. He was instrumental in holding down the fort and defending Victor Wembanyama, with Karl-Anthony Towns marred by foul trouble throughout the contest.
The title was extra special for Robinson, who is the longest tenured player on the squad. He endured several losing campaigns and a revolving door of core players. He has often been linked to trade rumors, but he has remained as constant as a dirty-water hot dog in New York.
Forget about rats. Maybe there should be more snakes in the Big Apple.
