The Toronto Tempo have held their own as an expansion team during the 2026 WNBA season. Toronto is 7-7 on the season after a crushing 102-77 loss against Atlanta on Sunday. One Tempo player will be on notice after a dirty play against one of the WNBA’s biggest stars.
Tempo head coach Sandy Brondello sent a subtle message to Izzy Harrison when talking with reporters after Sunday’s loss.
“Just trying to have consistent effort and execution for as long a period as we can, but staying in the moment, not getting too high, too low,” Brondello said of her team’s goals for this next stretch, per Chelsea Leite of TSN. “I think sometimes the emotions get the best of us, and take away from how we want to play, but they’re all controllable.”
Harrison was ejected just four minutes into the second half after committing a dirty foul on Angel Reese. Harrison grappled Reese to the ground, earning a Flagrant 2 foul and an immediate ejection. Both players were teammates with the Sky back in 2024.
It was the beginning of the end for Toronto as they were already down on the scoreboard. Harrison still ended the game as Toronto’s leading scorer with 17 points along with three rebounds, one steal, and two blocks in her 19 minutes on the court.
“[The Dream] lifted the intensity up and their aggressiveness kind of took us out of what we needed to do, but yeah, losing Izzy obviously hurt,” Brondello added.
Sunday’s matchup was just Harrison’s fourth game of the season. Harrison made her debut 2026 debut on June 7th after missing time due to a hand injury.
Toronto does not have much time to shake off the loss before their next matchup.
Next up for the Tempo is a road game against the Fever on June 16th at 7PM ET.
