Curaçao ready for historic Germany encounter

Qualifying for this World Cup is already the biggest achievement in Curaçao's footballing history, especially given the island is the smallest country to ever take part in the tournament. To reach the showpiece, they went unbeaten through all 10 of their games in CONCACAF qualifying.

The majority of their squad is made up of players born and raised in the Netherlands, but with familial heritage linking them to Curaçao. As such, they have a strong contingent of men plying their trade in European leagues, such as brothers Leandro and Juninho Bacuna as well as ex-Hoffenheim man Joshua Brenet.
