Pete Crow-Armstrong reveals NSFW Craig Counsell message that sparked MVP surge

At this point in the season, the Chicago Cubs are on a roller coaster ride. It’s been up and down, wins here, loses there, but trying to hold it together. Amid this dynamic, CF Pete-Crow Armstrong received words of wisdom from manager Craig Counsell, per Patrick Mooney of The Athletic.

Essentially, “Couns,” as he calls him, was philosophical in letting PCA know that they have the privilege of playing in the MLB. This became the impetus for a recent MVP-like performance by PCA.

“We get to play this game,” Crow-Armstrong said. “We’re all lucky enough to be able to show up every day. ‘Couns’ made an interesting point to me the other day when he said, ‘It kind of feels like it’s a bunch of have to. We have to get the job done. We have to pick it up, turn it around, win these games. You can’t forget that we get to do this.’”

On June 6, PCA went 4-for-5 with two home runs and two RBIs as the Cubs defeated the San Francisco Giants 3-2.

Over the weekend, the Cubs won two out of three on the road against the Giants. They are now back at home to begin a three-game series against the Colorado Rockies at Wrigley Field beginning on Monday.

They currently stand at 37-35, and are sitting in third place in the National League Central Division. The Cubs are 7.5 games behind the first-place Milwaukee Brewers (43-26).

Chicago began the season on the right note. Embarking on two ten-game winning streaks, before injuries and inconsistency got the better of them.

PCA is batting .267 with 72 hits, 12 home runs, 33 RBIs, and 42 runs scored.
