Long-time Michigan State basketball coach Tom Izzo has been outspoken about many things. That now includes the shakeup at the higher level of the university.
On Monday, Izzo came forward to offer his take on the recent departure of University President Kevin Guskiewicz, per ESPN’s Pete Thamel. He specifically called out the Board of Trustees.
“I can’t stand what’s going on. I’ve had it…… We’ve just lost the best president that may have ever been here, one of the best….I’m very upset about it. I’m sick of it….. What happened with our president…was ridiculous…… I’m ashamed, I’m disgusted. Hurt.”
Strong Tom Izzo comments, which reflect recent controversies with MSU’s Board of Trustees.

Guskiewicz is now heading to become the president of Clemson University. Additionally, on Monday, Athletic Director J Batt stepped down, and he will become the Athletic Director at the University of Kentucky.
All this comes at a time of significant turnover among the University staff.
Last year, Alan Haller was fired as Athletic Director, leaving Izzo as a possible interim candidate.
Michigan State basketball is coming off a season in which they finished at 27-8 and 15-5 in the Big Ten. They made it all the way to the Sweet 16, eventually losing to UConn 67-63.
Izzo has been the head coach at Michigan State since 1995. He led the Spartans to the NCAA Championship in 2000. Additionally, he led them to eight Final Fours, 11 Big Ten regular-season titles, and 27 consecutive NCAA tournament appearances.
He has 764 career wins.
Overall, Izzo has seen plenty of changes in the collegiate and university landscape, and this is the latest iteration.
