As the NBA offseason reaches full swing, rumors about Giannis Antetokounmpo’s next team are starting to swirl. The two-time MVP has been linked to the Miami Heat, but several reports suggest the Boston Celtics are showing interest as they gauge the feasibility of a three-team trade.
Would trading Jaylen Brown for Giannis Antetokounmpo make sense?
"If that's what it's going to take. I'll have to see the rest of that roster – yeah." – Reggie Miller

In an interview on The Dan Patrick Show, NBA on NBC analyst Reggie Miller weighed in on a potential Jaylen Brown for Giannis Antetokounmpo trade swap. Miller believes that the Celtics should change their game plan from what they employed in the 2026 NBA Playoffs.
“I think if you’re Joe Mazzulla, you do have to change a little bit. They took way too many threes.”
Patrick asked Miller if he would trade Jaylen Brown for Antetokounmpo. Miller seemed willing to see that happen.
“If that’s what it’s going to take. I mean, I’ll have to see the rest of that roster.”
Miller believes that Giannis being featured on the Celtics would change their game plan from a perimeter-centric approach to a balanced inside-out style that better fits Antetokounmpo’s talents.
“Look how the game is being won now. Especially in the finals and the playoffs, you’ve got to have mid-range games, right…I thought the Celtics…granted they won a championship doing that, but it bit him in the behind in that Philly series. I think they would change up, and I think Giannis would help and bring it in more twos and more and-ones. I’m not saying you abandon the three altogether, but you still have Tatum to shoot threes. You would still have Sam Hauser to shoot threes, Payton Pritchard to shoot threes. You just don’t need 50… Maybe 35 to 40, right.”
A trade for Antetokounmpo would put the Celtics back in the mix as a contender if the team stays healthy throughout the season. Miller makes a good point: the addition of a dominant player like Antetokounmpo would lead to a drastic change in the Celtics’ offensive scheme to better fit their new assets.
