The celebration is still going strong for the New York Knicks, and Mikal Bridges gave fans a memorable glimpse into it during a lengthy Instagram Live session on Monday.
Bridges spent more than an hour chatting with viewers, singing along to music and reflecting on different moments from his life. One of the most heartfelt revelations came when Kendrick Lamar’s Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers played during the stream.
Bridges Opens Up About Difficult Period
While listening to the album, Bridges revealed that Kendrick Lamar’s music helped him through a challenging time in 2022.
“I was depressed and this f—— album got me through it, I will never forget it.”

The candid admission quickly resonated with fans. Lamar’s 2022 project explored themes such as mental health, self-reflection and personal growth, topics that clearly struck a chord with the Knicks forward.
The stream also featured plenty of lighter moments. Bridges sang along to songs, joked with viewers and even argued that Knicks star Jalen Brunson deserves a statue after leading the franchise to its long-awaited championship.
Bridges’ honesty only added to the connection he has built with New York fans during the team’s title run. Although he acknowledged that he struggled at times throughout the postseason, he still delivered several key performances when the Knicks needed him most.
His 14-point effort in New York’s championship-clinching Game 5 victory helped cap a season that justified the franchise’s massive investment. The Knicks surrendered six first-round picks to acquire Bridges in 2024, a move that drew plenty of scrutiny at the time.
Just two years later, Bridges is an NBA champion, a fan favorite and, thanks to one emotional Instagram Live moment, even more appreciated by the New York faithful.
