The New York Knicks are preparing for their championship parade on Thursday, which is expected to shut down the entire city and wrap it in a feverish celebration.
New York had starved for a championship for over five decades, and finally, the Knicks are back as kings of the NBA. It took a while for them to ascend to the throne, but the arduous wait only made it more satisfying.
But amid the frenzy and excitement, the work never stops for the Knicks’ front office, especially with the NBA Draft happening in the next few days.
In fact, according to SNY’s Ian Begley, the team held a pre-draft workout on Sunday for some of their targets, including Duke guard Isaiah Evans.
“Knicks, fresh off a late night/early morning return from San Antonio on Sunday, hosted Duke guard Isaiah Evans today as part of a group workout for draft prospects, per SNY sources. Knicks have the No. 24, No. 31, and No. 55 picks in next week’s draft,” reported Begley on X.
In the latest edition of his mock draft, ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel had Evans going to the Denver Nuggets at No. 26, putting Kentucky center Jayden Quaintance at No. 24 for the Knicks. Siegel placed Iowa State guard Joshua Jefferson at No. 31 and Tennessee State guard Aaron Nkrumah at No. 55.
Evans averaged 15.0 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in his second year with the Blue Devils.
“Evans is viewed as one of the more NBA-ready draft prospects who can join a playoff-level team and contribute right away as a knockdown shooter on the wing,” wrote Siegel, adding that his style of play is similar to Indiana Pacers guard Aaron Nesmith.
The Knicks are already loaded in the backcourt with Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, Jose Alvarado, Miles McBride, Landry Shamet, Jordan Clarkson, Tyler Kolek, and Pacome Diadet.
